Your Privacy Matters: HIPAA at Therapy Dynamics PLLC
At Therapy Dynamics, your privacy and trust are incredibly important to us. We follow the guidelines of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to protect your personal and health information.
Here’s what that means for you:
What is HIPAA?
HIPAA is a federal law that protects your confidential health information. It sets rules for how your information can be shared and gives you rights over your records.
How We Protect Your Information
We use a combination of physical, technical, and administrative safeguards to keep your data safe:
- Secure Storage: All paper records are kept in locked file cabinets in a private office.
- Encrypted Communication: We use HIPAA-compliant platforms like Hushmail, Zoom, Theraplatform, and SRFax for email, telehealth, and faxing.
- Private Communication: Phone calls and messages are routed through iPlum, a secure and encrypted system.
- Access Control: Only authorized individuals with a need to know can access your information.
Your Rights Under HIPAA
You have the right to:
- Get a copy of your records
- Request corrections if something is wrong
- Limit who sees your information
- Ask for confidential communication methods
- File a complaint if you feel your privacy has been violated
You’ll receive a full copy of our Notice of Privacy Practices (NPP) during intake or by request, which explains all your rights in more detail.
Sharing Information with Others
We will never share your information without your permission, except when required by law or for treatment, billing, and operations. If we need to share information with another provider, school, or agency, we’ll ask you to sign a Release of Information (ROI) form.
In Case of a Breach
If your information is ever mistakenly shared, we will notify you promptly and explain what happened, what we’ve done to fix it, and how you can protect yourself.
