Seeking Answers Is a Strength. I’m Here to Support You
Considering an autism evaluation as an adult can bring up a wide range of feelings: curiosity, relief, uncertainty, or even grief for answers that may have come later than you hoped. Whatever brings you here, you deserve understanding, respect, and care.
At Therapy Dynamics, I recognize that adults often come to assessment after years of masking, misdiagnosis, or feeling like they never quite fit the expectations placed on them. My goal is not to label or define you, but to help you better understand yourself, your experiences, your strengths, and the ways your brain works.
I offer a thoughtful, affirming, and collaborative assessment process that honors your lived experience. I take the time to listen, explain each step clearly, and provide results that are meaningful and useful for your life moving forward.
Whether you’re seeking clarity for personal understanding, workplace accommodations, mental health support, or simply peace of mind, you don’t have to navigate this process alone. I’m here to help you find answers with compassion and respect.
Why Adult Autism Testing Matters
Autism can look different in adults than in children. Many adults who are autistic have learned to mask or compensate for social and sensory differences over the years. Some adults were never diagnosed as children, either because autism was less well understood in the past or because their traits were subtle or misunderstood.
Autism in adults may be connected with other conditions like ADHD, anxiety, or depression. Our assessments explore both autism and co-occurring concerns so that you get a complete picture of your strengths and challenges.
What to Expect from the Evaluation
Myadult autism testing process is thorough and personalized:
1. Initial Intake
We begin with a detailed conversation about your developmental history, current concerns, and goals for the evaluation.
2. Diagnostic Interview
I use a structured interview to explore your experiences with mental health, communication, relationships, sensory sensitivities, routines, and social patterns. This is done conversationally so you can share your story in your own words.
3. Standardized Assessment Tools
You may complete validated tests designed to assess autism traits and relevant cognitive skills. These tools help us understand how your thinking, social interaction, and sensory processing compare to diagnostic criteria.
4. Feedback and Report
Two weeks after your testing is finished, we meet to review your results. You will receive a written report that explains findings, offers recommendations, and can be used for accessing supports or accommodations if needed.
Where and How Testing Is Done
- In Person – at my St. Cloud, MN clinic
- Telehealth – secure online sessions available throughout Minnesota
You don’t need a doctor’s referral to begin testing, and my assessments are accepted by many providers, schools, and county or disability services when a formal evaluation is required.
A Collaborative, Supportive Process
My evaluations are neurodiversity-affirming, respectful, and tailored to the unique experiences of adults. I work with you to help you understand how your brain works and to clarify next steps for support, whether through therapy, accommodations, or community services.
