A passion for identifying neurodivergence and finding resources.

I specialize in autism and ADHD testing for children and adults.  All evaluations include a complete mental health assessment as well. I work to provide you with all of the resources that you need and help you identify needed services.  The process is tailored to you as an individual.  The Autism Housing Network provides a great overview of some of the needs that neurodivergent children and adults have throughout their lifespan through a project called Autism Across the Lifespan.  It is a Utah resource, but is full of excellent information about areas of need that you may have.  We will make sure to include Minnesota resources.  The guide is a starting point and we can build from there.  I want to provide you with what you need to live the life that you want.

Neurodivergence across the lifespan: Autism and ADHD testing for Children and Adults

During my career, I have worked extensively with children and adults.  I enjoy working with parents and children in a family-led approach to diagnosing autism. Autism does not exist in a bubble. The whole family is involved in caring for their child, and taking care of themselves in the process. Children and parents can be fun to work with, and getting services for children can mean the difference socially, academically, and emotionally in their lives.  I offer resources and  help you to get through the IEP/504 plan process.

Adults have dealt with the traits of autism throughout their whole lives. Many of them have been misdiagnosed, and mask heavily to get through social situations or work. When an adult comes in for care, it is a very sensitive time. Adults are tasked with unmasking and sharing who they really are. I am here to support you through this process. Adults are reaching out for validation, help, and resources after experiencing rejection from other mental health practitioners. The differences in presentation between adults and children and girls and women are still not always recognized by providers.

I am prepared to help you navigate this process with compassion and knowledge.  This process is important, and I will provide you with as much support and guidance as you need.

Remote or Telehealth Testing

All autism and ADHD testing for children and adults are completed remotely using valid tests normed for remote testing. There is no need to come into the office. This is very comfortable for many people.  It is a benefit to testing that you or your child can be comfortable while being assessed. Adults can complete all testing on their own.  When working with children, I ask for some parent support to get your child onto the platform as well as to help with setting up a test on Chrome during the session by opening up a second tab and entering in a URL and login information I provide. Parent support may be necessary for younger, or less compliant children, but parents cannot help their children with the answers.

“I felt good about the process.  Kristen was professional and helpful.  I had a lot of extra paperwork to submit and Kristen read it all.  She made herself available for questions frequently.  I felt like I understood the diagnoses and resources available to me. I give this a thumbs up for sure.”
